Plan your own wine route through Croatia

Food · 4 min read

Pick a region and your favourite wineries. The planner puts them in a smart order and spreads them over days.

Wineries are often scattered across hills and peninsulas, and most welcome visitors by appointment. A good route means you see more and spend less time in the car. Choose one or more regions below, tick the wineries you want to visit and pick where you start.

Distances and driving times are estimates along the main roads. We allow an hour and a half per visit. Each new day starts at the last winery of the day before.

How the planner works

  • The planner looks for the order with the shortest driving time along the main roads.
  • Use Wineries per day to spread the visits over several days. Two or three a day is plenty for relaxed tastings.
  • Below each day there is a link that opens that day as a route in Google Maps, handy on the road.

Three routes to start with

  • Istria: Kozlović in Momjan and Matošević in Krunčići, with Rovinj as your base. Easy to do in one day.
  • Pelješac: Korta Katarina, Bura-Mrgudić and Grgić Vina are close together. It makes a lovely day trip from Dubrovnik, but a night on the peninsula is worth it.
  • Plešivica and Slavonia: switch on both regions and start in Zagreb. Begin at Tomac and drive on to Kutjevo for Krauthaker and Enjingi. Allow two days.

Tasting and driving

If you drive, don't drink. Croatia's limit is 0.5 per mille, and zero for young and novice drivers. Agree on a designated driver, use the spittoon at tastings or book a wine tour with a driver.

Call or email the wineries a few days ahead. Many only receive visitors by appointment, especially outside the high season.
