From a bottle shop with hundreds of beers to a brewpub in an old railway station: where to drink the best beer in Kvarner.
Few travellers come to Rijeka for the beer, yet the port city has one of the liveliest craft beer scenes in Croatia. Four local brewers work in and around the city, Goblet is one of the country's best-known beer shops, and up on Trsat two beer bars list hundreds of beers. This guide covers it all, with addresses, a walking route and practical tips.
How Rijeka's beer scene works
The craft beer spots cluster in two areas: the centre around the Korzo and the old town, and up on Trsat hill by the university campus. Start downtown in the afternoon and head up to Trsat in the evening, where students fill the terraces until late. On tap you'll mostly find Croatian brewers such as Nova Runda, The Garden Brewery, Pulfer and Bruman, alongside local King's Brew, Flumen, Morčić and Big Joseph.
The best craft beer bars and bottle shops
Goblet Beer Bar & Shop
The city's most important beer address. Goblet started in 2018 as a craft beer shop and is now a bar and shop in one, with eight taps, its own mead and a list of around 160 beers from Croatia and around the world. Draught beer can be taken away in one-litre bottles.

Tvornica piva Rijeka – Pogon Trsat
For many beer lovers, the best craft beer bar in Rijeka. Founder Ivan Rumora opened it in 2015, inspired by the beer halls of Prague. Eight taps pour house beers such as the Hartera Pilsner, named after Rijeka's old paper mill, plus rotating guests from brewers like Morčić and King's Brew. Order the flight of four. The bar is tucked away among the trees on the campus, so watch the address.

The Beertija
Rock, students and a list of more than 250 beers. The Beertija is half bar, half pub, with two large terraces surrounded by greenery. Come for football on TV or live music, five minutes' walk from Tvornica piva.

- Slavka Krautzeka 12 (Trsat), Rijeka
King's Caffe Food Pub
King's Brew's home pub, close to the theatre and the fish market. Alongside three house beers (pilsner, stout and session IPA) there are around 70 craft beers on the list. The kitchen serves burgers made with local beef, ribs, bowls and breakfast, and staff will suggest a beer to match your dish.
- Address
- Verdijeva 7b, Rijeka
King's Brewpub Kolodvor
King's Brew in the renovated old railway station building: an industrial interior, house beer on tap, pub food and Monada, Croatia's first craft cola. Some nights a DJ spins rock.
- Address
- Trg kralja Tomislava 1, Rijeka
Flumen Pub
A friendly pub near the centre with its own brewery. Try the five Flumen beers side by side: pale, red, dark, wheat and IPA. Flumen is Latin for river, just like Rijeka in Croatian.
- Address
- Krešimirova 16a, Rijeka
Celtic Caffe Bard
An atmospheric bar under brick vaults, right by St Vitus Cathedral. The owner knows his taps and bottles: Croatian craft from Nova Runda, The Garden Brewery and others, alongside European classics. On busy nights people sit outside on the steps. Smoking is allowed inside and it closes at midnight.
- Address
- Grivica 6b, Rijeka
Nemo Pub
A pub on the Rječina, the little river that gave the city its name, with good music and decent beer. A perfect stop for a cold one before the climb up to Trsat, and one of the places that stays open late.
Pivnica Cont
Not a craft beer bar, but a good place for classic beer with dinner. Cont has a varied beer list with highlights such as Hacker-Pschorr Kellerbier on draught, and a lively atmosphere among old Rijeka shop signs.
- Address
- Šetalište Andrije Kačića Miošića 1, Rijeka
Local breweries to try
- King's Brew is the city's biggest brewer and has brewed its own beer since 2018. Look out for Perun (amber lager), Svarog (IPA), Svarožić (session IPA) and Veles (nitro stout), poured in the King's pubs.
- Flumen brews in its own pub on Krešimirova: a pale lager, a red lager, a Munich-style dark, a wheat beer and an IPA.
- Pivovara Morčić is a small brewery from Veli Brgud in the hinterland, founded in 2020, known for an American Pale Ale and an IPA. The name refers to the morčić, the jewellery figure of a Moor that is Rijeka's symbol.
- Big Joseph is a young brand from Istrian Crafters, brewed in Rijeka since 2023, with an unfiltered lager, amber lager, dark lager and IPA.
Take beer home or have it delivered
For bottles and cans, head to Goblet: next to the bar is a shop with beer from Croatia and abroad, and draught beer can be taken away in one-litre bottles. To have Croatian craft beer delivered, try Brewtiga, an online shop from Rijeka that sells only Croatian brewers. Its best-known product is a 'Mystery Box' of twelve beers.
Rijeka Craft Beer Festival
Every spring the old Exportdrvo warehouse on the waterfront fills with brewers from Croatia and the rest of Europe. The second edition, on 8 and 9 May 2026, featured more than a hundred beers, workshops, food trucks and Rijeka rock bands. Keep an eye on the Visit Rijeka events calendar for the 2027 dates.

- Trsat sits high above the centre. Walk up the Petar Kružić steps or take the city bus.
- Smoking is still allowed inside some Croatian bars, such as Celtic Caffe Bard. If that bothers you, sit outside.
- Driving? Leave the car and take a taxi or the bus back to your accommodation.
- Combine your beer day with Opatija or Istria. Pula and Rovinj are about an hour and a half's drive away.
